4 Tips When Using An Ovulation Prediction Kit To Conceive A Boy

By Samantha Adams

In this article we look at ways of helping couples when they are trying to find a way of how to conceive a boy naturally. Certainly knowing when the woman is about to start ovulating is crucial, especially if they want to ensure that the sperm carrying the male gene to reaches the egg to fertilize it first. One such way for them to predict when the woman is ovulating is through them using prediction kits.

Today ovulation prediction kits are proving very popular with many couples as an easy way for them to detect when a woman is about to ovulate. The main benefit to be gained from using an ovulation prediction kit (OPK) is that it can tell the woman when ovulation is about to begin before it does actually occur. These kits are able to detect when there is an increase in the production of Luteinizing Hormone in the woman's uterus, and this normally occurs around 36 hours prior to ovulation taking place.

There are two types of ovulation prediction kits which can be used today for predicting when ovulation is about to occur. A couple can use either the test strip method or the midstream method. Both of which work in the same way, but the way in which they are used differs. With the test strip method the device is dipped into a container with the woman's urine in it and is kept there for a number seconds. Whereas with the midstream method the woman needs to hold the device under the stream of urine when she goes to the toilet. Normally it takes around 5 minutes of the urine coming into contact with the midstream device before a reading will be provided.

There are a number of things that a couple can do when using ovulation prediction kits so that they can better determine when the woman's ovulating time has begun. Below are just a few tips which a couple may find useful if they intend to use an ovulation prediction kit to help when they are trying with how to conceive a boy.

Tip 1 - To obtain a better idea of when to use a ovulation prediction test the couple should also use a chart for recording the woman's body's basal temperature. Using this chart will then help them to look back and see when ovulation is taking place normally.

Tip 2 - Even though you may think it isn't worth the effort you need to be testing yourself more than once each day. Instead it is best to test using the ovulation prediction kit twice each day. This way you are increasing your chances of identifying when the increase in Luteinizing Hormone in the uterus is taking place.

Tip 3 - Although you do not necessarily have to carry out the tests with the ovulation prediction kits first thing in the morning. What is important is that you do carry out the tests at the same time each day after the first test has been carried out. By doing this you are much more able to identify the period of time when the uterus has begun to produce more of the Luteinizing Hormone.

Tip 4 - Also you need to continue carrying on testing the urine with the ovulation prediction kits until you begin to see an increase in the production of the Luteinizing Hormone. As soon as this occurs then in order for the couple to increase their chances to conceive a boy they need to have intercourse with 36 hours.
