Body Detox Diet: 5 Steps to a Healthier You

A body detox diet or cleanse is becoming more widely practiced, especially by people who reach the limits of what the medical profession can do for them.

Having learned about the self-healing power of the body, getting out of the way and allowing it to cleanse becomes a priority.

How long should a body detox diet be?

The minimum time should be 3 weeks, here's why. Your body goes through a complete cleansing cycle during this time. Another reason is that it takes 3 weeks to develop a new habit. Take at least some of the good you've been doing and make it part of your lifestyle.

A healthier you in just 5 key steps:

1 -- Drink half your weight in water every day. Did you know that most people are dehydrated? Sodas and other drinks containing sugar or caffeine won't do it, you need filtered water.

2 -- Think of the color green. Green vegetables not only nourish your body, they also are almost always alkaline rather than acid. Eat mostly alkaline foods during your body detox diet rather than acid forming ones.

3 -- The body reacts to cooked food the same way it does to a virus, by raising the number of white blood cells. Raw foods or vegetables in their natural state is the way to go so you can help with the body detox diet.

4 -- One way to accelerate the cleanse is through juice fasting. Again, green vegetables are best and avoid sugary juices. Drinking only juices once a week is much easier on the body than a long fast.

5 -- It is essential to move your body. You can do this by taking a walk or by doing resistance training. It's not just a detox diet. Now, you will push out the toxins when you perspire and exercise.

Toxins that have been in the colon and throughout the body are released during a cleanse. How does the body eliminate them?

A runny nose, skin rashes and runny stools are all ways the body naturally works to eliminate toxins. It is only in our culture that we define it as being sick and try so hard to stop it.

It's up to you to make your process as easy as possible. You will move through the body detox diet easily and quickly and feel great. Just keep staying well hydrated while you move your body.
