Change Filters in Your Air Cooler as Well as Your Water Purifier

By Andrew Caxton

The importance of changing the filter in your water purifying system according to the manufacturer's instructions.

If you have finally made the decision to install a water filter in your home, you probably noticed right away that the water was cleaner smelling and tasting. You also know that it is healthier for you and your family. But if you have started to notice after a while that the water is not tasting as good as it did, it is probably because you have failed to change the filter. The whole idea of a water filter is to trap contaminants in the filter before they can get into the water you drink. But where do those contaminants go? They are now stuck on the filter, and the filter is no longer doing its work properly. This is why it is important to check the filter cartridge and change it if it is full of "stuff". This concept is the same as an air cooler; you have to change the filter to keep the air clean. The instructions that came with your water filter will tell you how and when you should be changing your filter cartridge.

Each type of water filter you may have will need to have the filter cartridge changed periodically. There are many types of water filters, such as counter top and under the sink for drinking water, refrigerator filters for drinking water and ice, washing machine filters for cleaner clothes and shower nozzle filters for cleaner waters for daily showers. But each and every one of them has to have the filter cartridge changed if you expect it to continue to work optimally. If the filter is dirty and stopped up, it can no longer filter out deposits, metals, minerals and other sediments in the water.

Normally, when you buy a water filter, the cartridge will already be installed. There will also be instructions that come with the filter to tell you how to install the replacement cartridges, and how often. Most of the time it depends on the amount of use the water filter will have, based on gallons of water processed through it. But it may also be based on a time frame, such as every six months. The size of the filter cartridge will have an impact on how often they have to be changed. It is really important to follow the instructions, since a dirty filter is like having no filter at all. Make sure you keep spare filters so you can change one quickly when you need to.

If you failed to keep the instructions for your water filter, you can probably find out how often the filters need to be changed by going on the Internet site of the manufacturer. While you are there, you can order replacement cartridges.

But even if you don't follow the instructions, the taste and quality of your drinking water will probably tell you when the filter cartridges need to be changed.
