Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Taking a proactive stance combined with self reliance can help handle and overcome anxiety panic attacks.

Repeated panic attacks coupled with fear of a future attack is referred to as anxiety panic disorder. Experience of anxiety panic disorder can be extremely distressing and is comparable to the worst human experiences. Panic attacks and anxiety panic disorders are essentially medical conditions and require professional help from doctors or psychiatrists who have the requisite skill and experience. The various treatment options like medicines, psychotherapy and other natural means need to be evaluated and the best is to be chosen because the pathology of each individual varies. In some cases the patient is treated by a team - with one prescribing and monitoring medication and another providing CBT.

Dangerous symptoms of anxiety panic attacks are heart pain and in some cases a sense of impending death. There are six types of anxiety disorders, each having their own distinct symptoms. Women are twice as susceptible as men to generalized anxiety disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder however affects people of all age groups including children and teenagers and is more common in middle childhood and adolescence.

Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and typically irrational worry about routine things in everyday life. The fear is disproportionate to the actual cause of worry. GAD can strike almost anyone suddenly and without any apparent reason. It however does not warrant alarm or pessimistic feelings about your future health. It is important however to seek medical help and be prepared to confront and face the condition rather than getting caught in the vicious cycle of fear of fear.

Simple research by the patient into the solutions to generalized anxiety disorders and commitment to overcome the problem will go a long way in curing the problem. Many self help strategies are actually very simple and easy to adapt.

Fear of an impending attack is the main dampener in the process of cure of panic attacks. It is extremely important to overcome this fear and confront anxiety panic attacks with a preplanned course of action rather than running away from it. This will effectively lead to cure. Proactive people are less prone to anxiety panic attacks. Seeking effective long term solutions rather than medications or other forms of treatment will truly help combat and overcome anxiety panic attacks and the related fears.
