Party costumes, games and ideas for birthdays and halloween

By Diana Reeves

A little planning will help you set up a great party for your child. If you keep it simple its likely to be much more successful. You can choose a theme from today's film characters.Kids just love that. How about Spiderman, Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean? Whatever you choose you can add to greatly to develop it.

You know that when kids get excited they become louder and noisier, right? So store away anything delicate or valuable and let them loose! No need for you to be on tenter hooks that something will get broken.

Invitations can be made as a game or bought to suit the theme. For example, if it's a pirate theme, you can have them draw up anything to do with pirates, and there are so many things to add here. Things like Caribbean islands, sword and skulls, the Jolly Roger and so on. If you want to take things a little further, you can have them dress up as pirates as well. The choice today is enormous and you can easily choose from online catalogues until you find something you love

Plan your party to run for 1 hour for toddlers and for 90 minutes for 4 to 6 years olds. This is a guide to make sire they are at a high when the party runs and have all the energy and excitement they will need to enjoy it.

The decorations and trimmings you now have can be added to the party room, the reception area and perhaps the front door. All will help build up a great party atmosphere.

Next it's best if you arrange the games to be played in advance. Use help here and make a provision for those that don't want to join in. Have diversions set up by including little activities and things for them to play with. Then they will not feel left out.

For older kids, action parties are really popular. For example you could organize to go swimming or on treasure hunts and be sure to arrange plenty of prizes for all these. There will be many winners, and the more of them the better

We all know that kids love little surprises. So plan you last party bag handout with a few well chosen and inexpensive gifts. If you go online you could buy very cheap things like little story books or trinkets. Add in the traditional slice of birthday cake and you have a little treasure chest of goodies.
