The Right Time to Buy a Digital Camera

By Kip Wittenger

The digital camera seems to be the one gift that people love to treat themselves to. And today's digital cameras have excellent recording capacity, thereby doubling as a digicam. When exactly is the best time to be in the drivers seat for buying a digital camera? We'll get into that.

Do you want to get the biggest bang for the buck? By that I mean, do you want a top of the line digital camera when it's fresh off the press. If that's you, digital cameras usually hit the market fresh in March and November. Manufacturers have more or less followed this pattern for years.

With that being noted, you'll notice the timeframe built-in just after the holiday for manufacturers to offer great deals on last years model. If you don't care about the fresh crop, after the holidays might be the right time for you. I've picked up many a nice digital camera at this time of year.

A few years ago one of the biggest questions to think of when buying a digital camera was the megapixel question. How many do you need? Today most cameras tend to have at least 5. Unless you'll being doing printing of images you won't be as concerned about megapixels.

When putting together some prices lists for some digital cameras you're interested in you'll also want to thing about digital camera accessories. The main point here is, do you already own a camera? If so, you may not need any camera accessories. If this is your first digital camera, a package might be the way to go.

Want a great way to learn loads about digital cameras for nada? Get online and starting reading the reviews. EBay, Amazon or Overstock, it doesn't really matter. You'll gain tons of knowledge on someone else's experience. For a small time investment, reviews can give you valuable information.

How about taking a few shots before you buy? Even if you plan to get a great deal online, you can go to the nearest big electronics store and take a few photos. Bring them home and download them on your PC, what better way to check out a digital camera..

What about department stores versus the dedicated camera store? No doubt about it, the department stores or electronics stores can offer some rock bottom prices as can the online stores. Nearly all will back up your choice with a guaranty. I generally buy online, but that doesn't mean you should shun the camera store.

Make sure you enjoy your search for you digital camera. Your digital camera will aid you in documenting life through all its ups and downs. Hardly a day goes buy that I don't take a few shots on my digital camera. You could more than say I've gotten my moneys worth.
