What is it about the acai berry that sport champions love?

By Marcus C. Evans

From the beaches of Brazil to the beaches of Australia, the acai berry with its health benefits and sweet flavour are finally available to active and busy Australians as a healthy new snack.

One sector of the population benefiting from this berry is athletes. Acai is a natural alternative to the protein bars and shakes that they would normally eat and drink to assist with workouts, training and competitions.

Of course, you do not have to be an athletic sort of person to reap the benefits of this revitalizing berry. Acai berries contain the minerals, proteins, vitamins and antioxidants occasionally lacking in the food intake of vegans, vegetarians and those on diets who do not eat meat, eggs or dairy products.

What is it about the acai berry that makes it so special? Well, the key ingredients are fibre, calcium, iron, protein, phosphorus, potassium and ORAC along with vitamins B1, B2, B3, C and E which together all make this berry a powerful remedy for various health issues and ailments. The berry also contains Omega 6 and 9 as well as anthocyanin, phytosterols, polyphenols, sterols and unsaturated fatty acids.

A feeling of wellness is experienced by all who eat this berry. It is healthier than pomegranates, eggs and blueberries and benefits many health complaints and conditions. Most people say they have a revitalized feeling and far more energy and stamina when consuming the acai berry.

As the acai berry does not contain cholesterol it assists with lowering and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels within the body. The berry is also a great aid as far as arthritis and inflammation are concerned and works well to ward off colds, flu and other winter time viruses too. It strengthens the heart by fighting against stress and keeping heart disease at bay.

The above mentioned facts are probably the reason that many athletes and celebrities in Australia are now devoted to the acai berry and speak highly of the remarkable way in which this little gem has affected their performance and their daily lives.

Layne Beachley, World Surfing Champion, exclaims that Amazon Power Acai "offers the best sustenance" for her training workout as well as her surfing competitions. It keeps her satisfied throughout the day, but it is light and easily digestible. She also likes the sweet flavour and its natural contents. Since her diet is restricted due to numerous food allergies the Amazon Power Acai has the nutrients, vitamins, proteins and antioxidants she needs to replace other foods that she is unable to eat.

Pro Junior Surfer and Runner-up ISA Amateur World Champion, Chris Friend, says he is given the power to train and "surf at 100% intensity" by taking Amazon Power Acai. He not only eats acai for breakfast but also as a snack during the day and he simply loves the taste.

You can now find acai being sold all over the world and it is proving to be the perfect berry for people who are health conscious and active. It is dark purple in colour, looking quite like a blueberry and it is sweet with a subtle chocolaty flavour. Whether you choose to take it in juice, puree, capsule, powder or fruit form, it is sure to give you a great boost of energy as well as provide you with many health benefits.
