Discussing Immigration And Current Events

By Chris Channing

The new age of immigration and restrictions on immigration make it harder for people to come in to the United States. There are more issues concerning terrorism that has made the options for people to get through the border checks a lot more difficult, even if just to work legally in the united states. This is being combated against as well with native born citizens and questioning if they should even be considered natural born citizens in the united states.

More money is wasted every year to install fences to keep illegal immigrants out. The problem is that the fences do not spread across the entire borderline causing more trouble than it is worth to keep up. Immigrants will either climb the fences or dig under reinforced fences. They can even walk an extra day or two to get around the fence if they were incapable of climbing or digging through. It makes the fences a very inefficient idea.

There are many legal processes that can be taken to get into the United States legally. They often take time and can cost money but us the best way to stay in the country without having to be forced to leave right away. Many immigrants want to take the easy way in and get smuggled or try to cross the border on their own. This can be very dangerous and the smugglers may even sell the immigrants into slavery.

Almost every country is affected by immigration restrictions. Then again, not many people try to enter the country illegally when they come from far away. Taking the appropriate measures to be in the country legally is what lets other immigrants stay longer. The shortage of work in Mexico and South America, even around the areas of the Caribbean islands forces people to try and get work in the United States. You will almost never hear about Mexican immigrants trying to cross into Canada.

When the security card is pulled it is often because of terrorism, not because of immigration. Regardless of this fact, the process of increased security also meant that many of the legal immigrants were not allowed to come in when they had appropriate clearance to do so.

Many people that risk their lives coming into the country illegally could benefit from informing themselves on what the appropriate legal process is to live and work within the confines of the United States. Many immigrants work for peasant pay when they could be getting real money flow by coming into the country properly.

Closing Comments

Immigration is one of the things that are watched closely by the people that feel that they own the United States. Until they realize that many of their ancestors were immigrants, or forced here by deportation of their countries, they will truly not understand how hard it must be for these individuals to live their lives.
