Make a Memorable Holiday By Way of a Cruise

By Fabio Itonga

Many people that take their annual vacation only get a week or two at one time. While there are many great vacation spots and cruises that last only a week, there are some cruises that last two weeks or longer. Some families choose to spend the holidays on a two-week cruise. While the short cruises are fun, the long ones give you the chance to take a breath and relax between the many activities you'll be doing. Another advantage of longer cruises is that you get the opportunity to really get to know your fellow passengers and possibly make lasting friendships.

A very popular seven-day cruise from San Diego to Baja Mexico is offered by Carnival. Although the ships may vary, some take place on an 855-foot long ship. With a ship this large, many feel they are on a city on the ocean. There are more activities than you could imagine. Swimming pools, theatres and musicals are just a few of the many interesting things they offer.

The restaurants offer you some of the best cuisines on the world and many of the voyages are self catering. Another advantage of the longer cruises is you get to go to many different cities. What a better way to spend a holiday then touring different cities in the world like Costa Blanca or Florence, Italy.

Carnival also has a voyage to the Panama Canal that lasts 15 days, which some believe is the perfect time frame. When you are going on these long cruises, the rates are generally very reasonable. Just make sure you have enough spending money allotted for fun. With this many days, you have enough time to really become familiar with the ship and where everything is located. You'll have a chance to catch your breath in between activities. By the end of the two weeks, you'll be anxious finally to get home and tell everyone about your great cruise.

Another long cruise that many love is a 14-day Greek cruise that starts in Athens and takes you to the many islands in Greece. The sunshine is the very least of the many things you'll enjoy. This cruise with its ancient ruins is a sightseer's delight. You can swim all day and go to the elegant gambling casino on the ship. The amenities rival that of the Savoy hotel in Florence, Italy.

One way you can save more money is by going on a self catering cruise. This is where the food is not included in the cruise price. You can buy your own food on the ship or at many of the cities you will be visiting. One disadvantage is that with such a long cruise, you may find you love it so much, you'll never want to go home.
