Please Everyone? Choose Edible Gifts!

By Curley01Abigale08

Edible gifts can be the perfect solution for that "hard to buy for" friend or relative. Most people have at least one person on their shopping list that either has everything, or is very difficult to please. When doing your shopping this holiday season, why not consider something that person can savor, rather than something that might get shoved to the back of a closet with last season's shoes?

When deciding what to buy, there are a few things to think about: What are the tastes of the person you're buying for? Savory or sweet? Wine or beer? Romantic or platonic? If you choose things that need to be refrigerated, will there be a cold place to store the gift until it is presented to the recipient? Will you make the items or buy them?

Edible gifts can be anything from wine baskets to chocolate covered strawberries, or maybe even both depending on who you are purchasing the gift for. A popular selection in the past, and an old standby, has been the fruit basket. Today, you can be more creative and do customize the gift basket for the person you are buying it for. Some popular styles today include the beer basket, the wine basket, the chocolate lover's basket and the salty food basket. There is something for every taste and price range.

If the person you're buying for is a book lover, perhaps a hand assembled gift basket with some fine cheese and biscuits, a bottle of white wine, a couple of wine glasses and a new hardcover best seller might be just what the doctor ordered.

You don't even have to be a great cook to make edible gifts. They will appreciate the time and effort you put into it. A great idea is to put dry ingredients into a decorated mason jar. That way someone else gets to do the cooking. Many different things can be presented in a jar mix, including holiday cookies, bean soups, and breads. You personalize it by decorating with ribbons and festive wrapping paper to make a beautiful presentation.

If you don't have the time or the talent to cook something, then of course you can buy the gift. And if you really want to give the gift that keeps on giving, then try something like the "cheese of the month" club. The recipient will receive a different type of cheese in the mail every month for the entire year. You will certainly be remembered next Christmas.

No matter what you decided or what edible gift you go with, you are sure to see that the person you are buying for will be pleased. This will be a memorable gift and one that is talked about for years to come.
