6 Things You Should Know Before Buying A Couch

By Steven M. Fisher

1: COLOR IS KEY.

The first thing you will respond to is the color, so look for a color that works with the colors you already have in your room or that express your style.

2: THE COMFORT TEST.

Once you find the couch you like, test it for comfort. Bounce up and down on the cushions. Make sure you like the feel. After all, you are the one that will be sitting on it.

3: LASTING QUALITIES.

Wiggle the arms. Do they hold firm, indicating good workmanship? Lift the frame. Does it feel heavy and sturdy?

4: FEEL.

Examine the fabric. Are the seams straight? Does the fabric line up properly? Does it feel pleasing to the touch?

5: THE PRICE.

Good quality sofas are available in all price ranges. Price and compare.

6: MEASUREMENTS.

The sofa shouldn't overwhelm your room, but also you don't want it to be dwarfed by the other pieces of furniture.
