Amanda's Fabulous Louisiana Spiced Tea

By Nancy Broussard

Even if you have never visited Southwest Louisiana, you probably know about the Cajuns and how much food and drink are a part of their culture. Amanda is a late-twenties Cajun...a career woman and mother...who gives away gallons of her spiced tea mix during the Christmas season.

Her tea is better than a visit from Santa. And, it is really easy to make.

You can begin with a cup of powdered instant tea mix. Amanda uses Nestea, but you can try other brands if you have a favorite.

Add two cups of Tang. Again, you may try a similar brand if you are a risk taker or you can use sugar free Tang if you or any of your friends or family members are diabetic.

Next, add two cups of sugar or a substitute sweetener like Splenda.

For your final step...see how quick and easy this is...add a packet of lemonade powder and mix everything together. Store the final mixture in plastic or glass containers. Whenever you want a great drink, heat a cup of water and add the mixture to suit your taste. Most folks like about two teaspoons full.

Everyone will enjoy the wonderful tart taste and the bright orange color. And, everyone will want the recipe. Count on it.
