Choosing a Zodiac Tattoo

By Pat Johnson

There has been an increasing trend in people choosing their zodiac symbol for a tattoo lately. This is an obvious choice because it is a great way to personalize your design and share something about yourself. Astrology has been an integral component of culture for ages.

Naturally in our society we use the Western Zodiac. This is the Zodiac wheel that includes Aries, Taurus, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Scorpio, Libra and Virgo. Many of the signs are based on ancient mythology of the Greek. Many of the names stem from the gods and other figures of that age.

Because each sign is designated a specific period of time on the calendar, your Zodiac sign is determined by your birthdate. Choosing your tattoo to be representative of your sign lets everyone see your pride for the time of your birth. Each sign is believed to carry with it unique personality traits. So when others see your Zodiac symbol tattoo they will already have an idea of what type of individual your are, even before you begin to speak.

Zodiac glyphs make terrific choices to be the foundation of a tattoo, because of their inherent stylized imagery. The best tattoo artists can develop these further, finally arriving at a creation that not only reflects who you are as a person, but is also a stunning work of art in its own right.

While the best things in life are free, that is not always the case when hunting for the perfect tattoo design. One place to start your search is at one of the large tattoo membership sites on the web. These sites have grown to full fledged communities where people share both their finished tattoos as well as printable designs. You can then take these templates to your local shop and have the work done there.

People tend to go for either the symbol or glyph when constructing their zodiac tattoo. The signs constellation is another viable choice. All of these can easily be expanded on to create a final image that is much greater than the sum of its parts.

Be sure not to rush your decision process. There is lots of time and you do not want to act rashly and then regret your choice later. Review lots of examples and then settle on one for you. This way you can be certain that you will still be pleased with the final creation decades from now.
