Flights from the UK to Geneva

Getting to Geneva from the UK on a budget is easiest during the winter holiday season. Many of the budget airlines only offer flights from regional UK airports during winter or they cut their number of flights during spring and summer. Flybe, BMI, and Jet2 are three such budget airlines. Always check availability before purchasing a flight on one of these carriers. If you wish to visit Geneva outside the winter season, British Airways, Easyjet and Swiss offer daily or weekly flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton or London City airports.

GVA, the Geneva Cointrin International Airport is the main arrival point for skiers to the French and Swiss Alps and for other locations. GVA which is only 5 km north of Geneva is well connected by busses, trains, cars or shuttles. The airport is divided into two sections which makes it easy for the travelers can exit or either of the French or Swiss side.

If you're looking for the best rates on hotel rooms and plane tickets, it's best to travel during the off-season (April to June and September to November), but be aware that some hotels are not open during these times.

Peak seasons in July and August gives the greatest weather and largest crowds. Swiss National Day falls on the 1st of August and starts two weeks of festive events. Tourism peaks once again around the winter solstice and New Years.

The main attraction of the city is its walking tours. These tours are planned in accordance with the various attractive places, giving you the opportunity to choose your tour based on various features like art, architecture, historical places, legends etc. These tours are best ways to get exposure to main tourist spots as well as some less popular sites.

Place Nueve is the cultural hub of Geneva and is a great place to enter the Old Town. Here you will find the Grand Theatre and the Conservatory of Music and Rath Museum offering great architecture.

Switzerland is famous for many things. Among them are chocolate and the Swiss Army Knife, both popular gifts to take home.

Watches and clocks are more famous in Geneva. In Jardin Anglais, a different flower clock is planted with variety of flowers and it always gives correct time. It also contains the monumental solar and laser clock.

For architecture, the town of Lausanne is near Geneva is an interesting and vibrant city boasting stunning Swiss architecture.

Geneva offers a robust selection of cutting-edge museums including but not limited to the Museum of modern and contemporary art,the Barbier-Mueller Museum of worldy artifacts and artworks from different civilizations, as well as the art rich patek phillippe museum, which offers a plethora of art and history from a wide span of the 16th to 18th centuries.

Lake Geneva is the largest lake in central Europe shared by Switzerland and France. Visitors are drawn to the lake by its quaint chalet villages, alpine panorama and vineyard-covered slopes. Scenic roads stretch along the shore or you can hop on a train to take in the views. Another great stop is the Jet dEau, the largest fountain in the world, projecting 140 meters into the air at 200 kilometers per hour. It is a top romantic spot at night when the fountain is lit up.
