The food is another awesome thing to check out. To eat the food of another country in the country is so different from eating it at a restaurant here. I would say most of the "authentic" restaurants here still somewhat make the food to American's tastes.
If you are outside the country make sure you pay attention to all the details. You would be amazed at what you notice when you pay attention to your surroundings in another country. I couldn't believe the way people drove, when I was in my taxi on the way to the hotel, I swore the driver was going to kill us. After the ride it was fun, I was safe and I just realized they are different than us.
You have to be aware of things like the smells in another country. The scent of another place is even exciting. You also need to pay attention to the landscape, not just the natural but the man made. If you have a chance, leave this country on a trip!
