Travel Insurance Gviii

By Roc Selly

Whilst on holiday it is not uncommon for travellers to stand out amongst a crowd and this tends to attract the unwanted attention of con artists or petty criminals as well as leaving the traveller open to being ripped off by the likes of locals who just see dollar signs walking by when a foreigner passes them. The fact that holiday-makers often have trouble speaking in the local tongue and aren't always confident only makes them stand out more as they flick through their maps and translation books, trying to make sense of their surroundings.

Travel insurance gives the traveller the confidence that if anything did happen to go wrong, there would be assistance. Instead of adding to the nerves of being outside of your comfort zone, cover yourself and your family with travel insurance while you are away.

One thing that can give added security and more of a feeling of well-being is travel insurance. Travel insurance gives the traveller the confidence that if anything did happen to go wrong, there would be a safety net to catch them. Instead of adding to the uneasiness of being outside of your comfort zone, cover yourself and your family with travel insurance while you are away.

The most important aspect of your travel insurance is the medical cover. Different countries have different medical and health care systems as well as differing degrees of expertise when it comes to the professionals that will be caring for you.

It is worth noting, for example, that if you need medical attention while you are in Africa, medical staff may not be able to accept any payments through your insurance company in which case you will be expected to pay in full yourself directly following any treatment you have been given. Only after this can you claim with your travel insurance company for your refund. It is important that you always have access to cash from either a credit card or through wire transfer. If this fails and you are still in need of assistance, contact the local embassy of the country you are in or a representative.

Regardless of the length or distance of your travels, it is wise to ensure you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy covering you for repatriation to your home country.

Asking yourself the following basic questions can help decide if travel insurance is something you need: can you afford the financial risk of losing your vacation investment if something goes wrong due to illness, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances? With accidents or illness often unforeseen, the answer to this question is usually no in which case travel insurance is a wise decision.
