Get Rid of Clutter and Clean

By Harry Gray

You've all heard the term "spring clean" and I am convinced that the only reason we say it is because it rhymes. Why would anyone want to clean up their yard in the spring? That's when everything is starting to grow again and fill in all of the bare spots.

Why not go ahead and get it done? You have to pick up leaves anyway so you just might as well just go ahead and do it. Get out there and rake and pick up everything in and around the yard. You'll be glad you did once spring comes back around next year.

The other great thing about cleaning this time of year has to do with the upcoming holidays. If you get outside and get your garage or storage unit cleaned out and organized you have room to store presents or furniture while you make room for parties and holiday decorations.

It's usually during the time where you're trying to get everything moved around and packed up and organized that you realize you need more space. Some people break down and buy that shed they've needed for years while others go rent a space thinking they will figure it out later. If you can stuff even more in a garage or basement, now would be the time.

If your kids are old enough, ask them to help. It might be a great way for the entire family to bond and accomplish something together. Of course, you can always pay them. Whatever works best for you will do.

The other option is to do it totally alone and find space and peace in the process of cleaning. There are those out here in the Universe the find their moments of Zen in the act of cleaning. The key is to find what is positive about the process and concentrate on that piece. Then once you're done, relax until next year.
