Self Image - The Changes You Can Make

Self-image is the thoughts you have in your mind with regard to your personality and other qualities. It is these thoughts you use with how you regard yourself. Having a positive self image is very crucial if you want to have more self esteem.

Low self image can affect your life and in some cases make you feel worthless. However, you can boost your self image by thinking about all of the good qualities within you. It is these qualities that become your strength, and which will help you to change your self-image.

To boost one's self image there are certain things that one can do.

1. You can discover those situations that trouble you and which in turn affect your self image. There may be some aspects of your personality that are weak and which can be changed if you make the effort.

You can change these areas of your personality and so add a new spark to your "self." By doing this you will definitely help to boost your self image. As these weaknesses are part of our lives, we need to know how to deal with them and turn them into strengths.

2. Sometimes we have thoughts that cross our minds during certain situations or about certain people that cause us to have a low self image. It could be that you feel someone is better than you in certain parts of life, and this can lead you to feeling nervous or having self doubts.

It is a good idea to try and observe these thoughts you are having. Sometimes when we talk to ourselves to try and rid ourselves of such thoughts they sometimes have a negative twist to them and this leads to a person's decrease in their self image.

3. Low self image may result from certain unwanted reactions that can be physical, emotional or behavioral in nature. The reactions that may occur are a change in your appetite, you become angry or your have headaches. So you need to avoid any kind of negative thinking regarding yourself.

Try to work out what your thought patterns are. See whether they are of a positive or negative nature or if they are logical and worthy. But you need to remember that your thoughts don't always have to flow in the right direction.

If you are someone who criticizes everything that you do then you will soon begin to development low self image feelings. It is crucial that you should try and feel good about yourself all the time. Not only will you feel the effect of these positive vibes but those around you will as well.

Each one of us is unique and we have our own qualities that cannot be found in anybody else. What you need to do is to learn to respect yourself and these qualities. By doing this you will help yourself to increase your self image. Having a healthy self image can help you to face all problems and overcome difficult situations.

A person may also develop an inferiority complex if they persistently have a low self image. This type of complex is something which should be avoided as it can affect their personality in very drastic ways. Your self-image is reflected in your personality and each of the actions that you do. So you need to remember to keep your self image intact.

As well as your self image, your beliefs can play an important role in the shaping of your life. From childhood we constantly have certain values instilled into us which help to form the beliefs we have. These beliefs sometimes reflect the thought patterns of our parents or the society in which we live.

As we grow up our beliefs may change because we become exposed to things around us. But it is these initial beliefs that will eventually help to shape our most deepest thoughts and wishes. You may also discover that certain beliefs you find important may also form the basis of another person's beliefs as well. The strongest belief that we have and which is hard to break is believe in and trusting those that we love.

There are some beliefs which may contradictory to others that you have and these can alter the way your life is lead and causes problems to arise. If you have such beliefs and you want to lead a life that is happy and satisfied then you need to be willing to change them. You also need to remember that self belief is an important part of your beliefs. By having faith and believing in yourself then you will be able to develop a more positive self image.

If you decide to get rid of the old beliefs that are obstructing your path, then you need to make sure that you replace these with new ones. These new beliefs should be of the kind that you really believe in and should not be the manifestation of another person's thoughts and beliefs.

We all have our own belief system and it is this which has a great impact on the decisions we make and actions we undertake. The beliefs we have are extremely powerful and can affect our surroundings as well. We will often fight for what we believe in and dislike others trying to influence the opinions we have.

The strong beliefs which we develop in relation to a certain issue much be done in accordance with certain values that we have. You can make your beliefs stronger or weaker by looking at how important, accurate and worthy they are to you. For those who want to alter their way of thinking to improve their life then understanding the importance of self image and beliefs is crucial.
