Why Pomeranian Pictures Are Popular

By Rosie Allan

Just because a photo of a dog says that it's a Pomeranian picture doesn't mean the dog in the photo will be a good representation of Pomeranians. Unfortunately, because of their extreme popularity in the last century, Pomeranians have been bred for quantity rather than quality. Since they are small and portable, they are make excellent stock for puppy mills and unscrupulous dog breeders. Lovers of Pomeranians know this. When they see a picture labeled as a Pomeranian, they want a good example of a Pomeranian looking back at them.

People go for cute. Pomeranians have the stranglehold on cute. They do not look like real dogs ? they look like Japanese robot toys. They're everything that makes a viewer's eyes linger on the picture. They have foxy ears, fluffy coats, tiny bodies and seem to smile. Be sure that Pomeranians benefit from your product or activity. Just look up any Pomeranian information on the American Kennel Club or a Pomeranian rescue website to double check.

There are very unscrupulous people selling Pomeranians of questionable parentage for purebred prices. You need to be somewhat familiar with the breed standard. One easy way to do this is by comparing a breeder's stock to Pomeranian pictures.

People instinctively react to young, cute animals ? they bring out our parental instincts. A dog that looks tough, self-sufficient or too exotic will turn off rather than attract the casual viewer. Pomeranians are cute and fluffy ? but still entirely recognizable as dogs.

You are better off with Pomeranian pictures that best conform to the Pomeranian information of the average Pomeranian. The average Pomeranian is about eleven inches in height at the shoulder, has pointed ears, profuse fur, a fox-like head with bright eyes, a curled puffy tail and orangey-red fur, or fur that's a dark peaches and cream color. Pomeranians do come in a wide variety of colors, but not all of them are recognized as true Pomeranian colors.

When looking through any number of Pomeranian pictures, you will notice a wide variety in color, coat length and even how long the ears are. Only a small number of Pomeranian pictures look anywhere near the average Pomeranian, let alone the breed standard. Although diversity is encouraged in the human world, it is not encouraged in the dog world.

As you are studying the Pomeranian pictures, also study the breed's characteristics. They shed a lot and are fragile ? can you handle that? If one of the reasons you love Pomeranian pictures is because of their incredible coats, know that you must devote time and care each day to grooming your Pomeranian. Know also that Pomeranians, due to their tiny size, are hard to housebreak. Can you handle that?

The Pomeranian model should not look ill in any way, unless curing an illness is part of your product or event. Bald patches and ribs showing should be avoided. You don't want to be seen as promoting cruelty in any way. You need to check your Pomeranian information websites to find out if your model looks anywhere near the breed standard. If you are not sure, then don't promote your model as a Pomeranian, but as a dog.
