Do These Online Restaurants Guarantee Freshness

By Terry Rudd

I think it's only natural to worry about your food when you order it online. You've got to wonder how they can keep the food fresh during shipping.

It's really not that different in the way restaurants or supermarkets order their food. You don't think they create the food themselves, do you? It has to be shipped to them. So it really doesn't make a difference if it's going to the supermarkets or a suburban household. It still has to get there fresh. So you want to make sure you pick an online restaurant that has a strong reputation.

I would say that a vast majority of these online restaurants like to use UPS. It's mostly due to the flexible shipping options that they offer and also due to the fact, that of all the shipping carriers, they have the most experience with food.

You'll find that these online restaurants have different ways on how they go about packing the food for delivery. A great example of what I am talking about is Home Bistro. As they specialize in gourmet meals, they now everything has to be done just right. Their main tool that they use for packing is dry ice. It helps keep the food fresh and delicious. Also, you can expect a shipping estimate of 2-5 days.

With other online restaurants, they might do things a little differently.

One example of this would be The Crab Place. It's an online site that specializes in fish and seafood. With them, they would much rather use Federal Express. What I lover about them, is that their turn around time is even better. You can expect delivery within 1-2 days. Also, being that most of the food is caught fresh, they use refrigerant instead of dry ice.

The last category would have to be gift baskets. Now, when it comes to gift baskets, there isn't a whole lot to worry about, because nothing has to stay fresh. The only downside to that, is the fact that you are going to have to wait a little longer for the package to get their. But on the upside, you don't have to pay as much for shipping.

But what the majority of the gift basket companies do really well, is take care of the item, so no matter how reckless the deliverer is, the food gets there in one piece.
